Research Education, Training & Career Development

The Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (CICATS) was created in 2008 in response to NIH’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program and provides an integrated academic home for clinical and translational research, with a strong focus on education, training and career development. CICATS works collaboratively with other programs in the University and with community partners to create a transformational environment that will train investigators and support staff on effective ways to contribute to current and future clinical and translational research.

The programs you will find in this area of the website aim to educate, and foster the career development of, the next generation of investigators in clinical and translational research. Trainees range from medical students and pre-doctoral graduate students through residents to post-doctoral trainees to fellows and junior faculty to clinical research assistants and research associates. Our educational offerings include degree-granting programs; grant mechanisms to support research trainees at various levels; classroom and on-line learning methods; mentoring and career development programs; and programs for common learning, interaction and support among trainees.
