About the Summit:
A first of its kind summit gathering health experts, practitioners, policy makers and community advocates committed to the elimination of health disparities. The overall goal is to raise awareness around health disparities, exchange information, and facilitate stimulating discussions with the ultimate goal of creating a national plan for the elimination of health disparities.
- Advance the understanding about health disparities among racial and ethnic communities which is a major public health problem in our country.
- Promote the exchange of innovative, thought-provoking ideas and information between professionals from the community, academia, industry, and government.
- Develop national and local plans with recommended solutions for the elimination of health disparities.
The summit program includes distinguished scientists, researchers and public health practitioners from leading institutions in Connecticut and from around the country. Presenters will share information regarding the elimination of health disparities and will discuss the current state of African American and Latino Health. The discussion will also include an emphasis upon community involvement in the development of promising strategies to reduce and eliminate disparities.
